The postseason hopes for the Cincinnati Bengals officially ended after their loss against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. In an important game against the Chiefs, the Bengals were handed 17-25 defeat. With this much-needed victory, the Chiefs not only secured their position in the postseason but also the AFC West for the eight consecutive time.
The Chiefs-Bengals game did not have the ingredients that the fans asked for. Considering some of the games in this year’s league, it was more or less a non-spicy encounter. However, the game had some added spice after Chris Jones, the Chiefs defensive tackle, had some harsh share of words for the Bengals’ WR Ja’Marr Chase.
After the game, Jones was captured giving a strong message to the WR. He sarcastically asked Chase to try more to beat the Chiefs and especially their defense.
Ja'Marr Chase, errrr, try again.
It all started with Chase taunting the Chiefs defense with his remark that the defenses did not have any big name name to stop Cincinnati. He also hinted that despite knowing how Chase plays, they won’t be able to stop him since the defense does not have the credibility to do so.
They know I'm good. They know how to play us. That's what it is. But it's not like they got a superstar on their defense.Chase had said
Despite the Chiefs’ defense being one of the finest in this season, Chase become a bit overconfident with the recent records that the Bengals had against them. The Bengals had three straight victories over the Chiefs in 2022 and probably that motivated him. However, the Joe Burrow less offense ended up losing the game n week 17.
The Chiefs-Bengals encounter was a spiceless face-off
Apart from the message from Chris Jones to Ja Marr Chase and the mid game brawl, the Chiefs vs. the Bengals encounter was a dull affair. It did not have a lot of things to cite. Patrick Mahomes had another average yet important game with 245 yards covered and a touchdown. Jake Browning, the quarterback who has replaced Joe Burrow, also had a touchdown.

The Bengals scored 17 points on their first three drives and then went scoreless for the rest of the game. Their last seven drives went in vain. It was the Chiefs defense that came in play and had a blistering impact.
With the win, the Chiefs moved on to a 10-6 record. Despite being a laggard compared to past seasons, the Chiefs have ensured their place for the 2023 postseason.
