In recent NFL games, reports and video footage of fans fighting in the stadium during an NFL game are going viral on social media. It seems like every week there is at least one brawl that breaks out between the supporters. A New England Patriots fan lost his life in a scuffle that took place at the Gillette Stadium earlier in the season. However, the fights don’t seem to stop as video footage of Los Angeles Chargers and the Dallas Cowboys fans going at each other on Monday went viral on social media.

Former Super Bowl winner, Chris Long has proposed an interesting solution to tackle this growing issue. In the latest episode of his Green Light podcast, Long suggested putting up cages outside the stadiums for those who want to fight and he also suggested putting bets on those fights. Seems a bit extreme but at least the fights won’t take place inside the stadium.

“People are picking up the stanchions, like the metal poles that are supposed to keep you out of the hot dog line and swinging them like battle axes,” Long said on the podcast. “It’s out of control. I agree, we all agreed, a couple weeks ago, no more talking good about these fights. … They don’t entertain me at all.” Long also provided a solution for the problem. “We’ve got to put a cage in these stadiums, where we get these f****** fans in there, and they fight a fair one. There’s no higher ground. There’s no grabbing onto each other’s Dak Prescott jerseys. There’s no any of it.”

Long played in the NFL for 11 seasons. He won two Super Bowls, one with the New England Patriots and the other with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was also awarded with the Walter Payton Man of the Year award in 2018. Long retired from football in 2019.

Chris Long has high praise for the Cleveland Browns defense

The Cleveland Browns have a stellar defense. Under DC Jim Schwartz, they have had a historic start to the season. Former Super Bowl-winning defenseman, Chris Long, who played under Schwartz in Philadelphia, had huge praise for the Browns defense.

“The Browns haven’t beaten a team, undefeated, this far into the season since the 60s,” Long told Andrew Siciliano on the Rich Eisen Show. “Like P.J. Walker did it. P.J. Walker authored the biggest win in regular season Browns history. That’s crazy. It’s all about the defense. That was a perfect storm.”

The Browns won their week 6 matchup against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers. As a result of that win, the Browns have now moved to 3-2 for the season. Their defense has been exceptional but they haven’t scored enough points this season. They will hope to get another W in their next game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
