Chris Simms apologized for his untimely criticism of Tua Tagovailoa's big fan late TuAnon

NFL analyst Chris Simms has apologized for his insensitive comments about the late TuAnon founder who died in a Motorcycle accident on June 1 in  Murrieta, California. According to Simms, he used to get heavily trolled by TuAnon for criticizing Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa.

While appearing on Meadowlark Media’s “God Bless Football” podcast on June 8, the former NFL veteran expressed his grief for the passing of the founder, Eric Carmona. He confided in his fellow colleague, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. Simms said,“I’m disappointed in myself. You guys know me. I don’t try to be a bad guy. I know I’ve got a big mouth and opinions about football.”

He said he “didn’t need to go that route” and that he “let a bigger conversation take ahold of me.” Simms realized that it was the wrong time to bring the subject up. Moreover, he apologized to both Tagvailoa and the Carmona family: “I meant no disrespect to Tua or the Carmona family at all, but that was totally bad timing and insensitive by me.”

Besides apologizing, Simms donated $1000 to Carmona’s GoFundME page, while Florio donated $2500. Previously, he applauded Tagovailoa for donating $10,000 to the fund. However, at the same time, he was very critical of so much money going to a person who he thought was a “negative” influence on social media.

“It really is a nice gesture (Tua donating money to Carmona’s page),” Simms said. “It’s a horrible, horrible thing, a horrible accident. It’s obvious he was Tua Fan.” But he blurted out an untimely criticism: “He’s also a huge guy that trolls me a lot on Twitter.

While Simms was busy apologizing for the untimely death of Carmona, “It’s a deep subject, and I think it’s societal,” but he didn’t want to get mixed up because he believes,” I am only going to get myself in trouble.”

Mike Frolio tried to warn his colleague, saying that he should have ignored the trolls. “Consider being trolled a good thing; it’s better than being ignored. In this space that we occupy, it’s not that deep. Sports fans love their teams.”

Simms quickly clarified that he loves passionate fans. “It was tragic, and RIP to him. I love passionate fans; there’s no doubt about it.”

Official TuAnon Twitter later thanked Mike Florio for his generous donation to the Carmona family. It read,” he never truly hated you guys at all. He truly enjoyed being able to playfully critique you guys.”

So far they have received donations in excess of $100,000.
