“It’ll only look worse,” Former QB Chris Simms SYMPATHIZES with Tom Brady and wants him to call quits at the end of this season
Chris Simms and Tom Brady
American sports analyst and former quarterback Chris Simms has recently shared his views on Tom Brady’s abysmal form and also spoke about what he expects from the legendary quarterback at the end of this season. Needless to say, Brady has nowhere been near his best this season. He has underperformed massively, and his age may be finally reflecting in his game.
Brady will be a free agent at the end of the season and many want him to retire from the sport as the longer he continues, the more he is tarnishing his reputation. Chris Simms, speaking on the Pro Football Talk, wants Brady to retire at the end of this season too. He said that he doesn’t want to see Brady play another year where he can’t be at his absolute best.
Simms added that we’ve already got such moments this year where Brady hasn’t been himself. Age reflected in his overall game- be it him carrying the offense forward, his throws, and his passing. Simms analyzed his game to support his argument of Brady not being anywhere near his best this season.
“I don’t want to see Brady play a year and not be Brady. And we’re kind of you know, we’re having moments of that this year where we’re getting to that? No, no, where were you just gonna blame him? How do you miss that throw? Whoa, wait, why did he? Why did he throw the ball so quick? The pocket was fine. There was a guy over there just there’s some of that, you know, the other day, I mean, of course, jumpy and people around him and just losing control of the football,” Simms said.
Chris Simms doesn’t want to see Tom Brady on the football field again
Simms further said that he doesn’t want to see Brady miserable and by no means he will get better next year. Instead, Brady will only get worse as he gets old. The 42-year-old admitted that he has the utmost respect for Brady but he didn’t want to see him on the football field again.
“I don’t want to see Tom Brady look like that, you know, and it’s not gonna look better next year. It’ll only look worse. So yeah, from that standpoint, to have a guy that has great respect for him and the things he’s done. I don’t want to see him in that state on the football field either,” he added.
Currently, the Bucs are 6-7 for the season but are still at the top spot in the NFC South division. They are expected to make it to the playoffs, but the way ahead doesn’t look easy given the condition of their offense. In the upcoming weeks, they’ll face the Bengals, the Cardinals, the Panthers, and the Falcons.
