The NFL 2023-24 regular season is coming to an end. The MVP talks are getting louder and Christian McCaffrey‘s name is discussed more and more. The running back for the San Francisco 49ers has done a phenomenal job this season.

Alongside Brock Purdy, the running back has done enough to trigger fear in the hearts of the opponents. With his unparalleled stats compared to other RBs this season, McCaffrey has taken himself to a different level. His contributions to the team’s success have earned him the position of MVP frontrunner.

Nonetheless, the running back remained humble when asked about the MVP question recently. He said it was the contribution from the team that helped him to clinch the MVP front-running spot. McCaffrey said that the rushing title is a team award. The RB hinted that it was Brock Purdy who helped him with his stellar passes to find him.

The rushing title is really cool for me because I think the run game is truly a testament to everybody on the field. Not just the endline because those guys start doing them, they are the base.

He further added:

But you know quarterback giving the right calls having an explosive passing games, open up some of the running games stuffs, tight ends who block with extreme effort, best fullback on the planet. The receivers take a lot of pride in blocking that have been coming for weeks. So that rushing title is a team work in my opinion.

Christian McCaffrey has already made it to the All-Pro Bowl this year. He has become one of the eight 49ers to make it to the Pro Bowl this time around.

The 49ers have two MVP frontrunners this year

Christian McCaffrey is not the only one who is contesting for the MVP from the 49ers. His quarterback, Brock Purdy, is also an MVP frontrunner.

With his immense skill and playmaking ability, Purdy has done a pioneering job of taking his team to the No.1 conference seed in the NFC. Despite coming from an elbow injury, the quarterback has had a record-breaking season with the Niners. He has surpassed Jeff Garcia in terms of covering the most number of passing yards in a single season for the franchise.

Purdy has also remained humble while discussing the MVP fortune for himself. He suggested that McCaffrey needs to win the MVP award. According to Purdy, McCaffrey is the main man behind the success of the team. He used to carry the ball. Purdy even said there were times when he threw the ball and look back.
