Colin Cowherd BLASTS the unfair comparison of Jimmy Garoppolo to Mahomes and Burrow after 49ers loss to Chiefs
The Week 7 Sunday matchup saw the San Francisco 49ers lose to Kansas City Chiefs on home turf by 23-44. The 49ers are now officially down by .500 after this loss, and they only have themselves to blame for it after missing several opportunities on the home field.
Many had high hopes for the 49ers roster, especially after the addition of RB Christian McCaffrey. One of the well-wishers of the 49ers happened to be the fox sports host Colin Cowherd. ‘The Herd with Colin Cowherd‘ host had shown immense confidence in the 49ers when they were going into the game saying, “San Francisco is going all in.”
Unfortunately, his high optimism was washed away by the 49ers’ comprehensive loss against the Chiefs, which he addressed in his show. The fox sports host is still adamant that the 49ers have the potential to go into the playoffs with this start, while also lambasting the Garoppolo criticism with some hot takes.
Colin Cowherd has some interesting facts for the Jimmy Garoppolo criticizers, highlighting that the in-form QBs are playing in different conferences than the 49ers’ QB
There’s no doubt McCaffrey has to learn the offense, and the team did seem worse after halftime. But once things start to click, the possibilities with this offense are limitless. And Cowherd too shared this sentiment. He is still positive about the 49ers who are now 3-3.
He said, “Listen, my takeaway in this game is Kansas City’s very good. We all know that and San Francisco is going to be very good and you’re doubting that… But I love San Francisco’s roster although seven-eight really good players still aren’t healthy… I love their coach and they’re one game out of first place.”
“The Niners are fine. They ran into a buzz saw and I think it came across as a very distracted performance,” Cowherd further added while also reiterating this is only week 7 and it takes time for things to settle in. He also had some words for the recent criticism of the QB Jimmy Garoppolo labeling it as unfair. He also asked fans to be patient and that it takes time to heal from injury.
Addressing Garoppolo and the comparison with the star QBs this season, he posed an interesting fact saying, “The history of the NFL isn’t-isn’t! (the) team with the best, most talented quarterback wins all the Super Bowls. Yes, when you put Mahomes and Jimmy Garoppolo on the same field, he looks small.”
“Outside of Joe burrow and Josh Allen, who do you put on the field in the NFL this morning with Patrick Mahomes that doesn’t look a little small?”.
Cowherd clearly hints that it’s highly unlikely that the Garoppolo will face these guys as they are from AFC but also didn’t shy away from taking potshots at some of the NFL legends.
He said, “This morning you know what Jimmy Garoppolo is going to get?.. Old Tom Brady distracted, Aaron Rodgers with no number one receiver, shrinks in the big game Kirk Cousins, no playoff wins-Jalen Hurts, the Brian Daboll story with Daniel Jones and Dak Prescott. That’s Jimmy Garoppolo’s path to the Super Bowl!”
The 49ers will be facing the LA Rams, who are currently 3-3, on Sunday.
