“Never deliver bad news”: Colin Cowherd takes shots at the Dallas Cowboys and declares the Rams as America’s team
The last season was nothing short of a dream for the Los Angeles Rams, the team bet big and won big. These bets were not careless ones but were all well-thought-out ones, getting Matthew Stafford in exchange for Jared Goff, picking up Odell Beckham Jr. mid-season, and getting Jalen Ramsey to solidify that defense. The team was playing chess for the last couple of years and it finally paid off in the biggest way possible. The LA Rams are the Super Bowl champions.
Colin Cowherd believes that there is something about the Los Angeles region and California state as all the teams across all major sports that represent the state are winners. The Rams won again when they signed Aaron Donald to a new contract recently. The analyst heaped praise on the organization for the way they manage to handle all their star players without letting it affect their cap. “It’s the franchise that never delivers bad news,” Colin dubs the Rams.

“If you want to be America’s team, you have to WIN”: Colin Cowherd believes a losing team cannot carry the title of ‘America’s team’
Why is it that the Rams are that good of a franchise? It’s because of that front office, that is where the buck starts and stops, with the management of any organization. “We just have really good front offices here, it attracts more people of higher caliber. They built ‘THE STADIUM’ in America to watch football games here,” Colin says. Speaking on the cap of the team and how well the Rams have managed to handle it, the analyst says, “Aaron Donald’s staying, they’re paying their quarterback top of the market, Jalen Ramsey top of the market, Bobby Wagner they paid, Allen Robinson they paid, and Odell Beckham Jr. is probably going to stay, yet the Chicago Bears are in cap hell and they don’t have one star player.”
Colin compares the situations of the Rams to the Bears and highlights the importance of having good management at the top, “The better upstairs is, the better the company is,” is his simple philosophy. There are no exceptions. In every business, there are hundreds of players but only a handful of them succeed and manage to stay at the top. This is because of their management. Speaking highly of the Rams, Colin says that “They never deliver bad news, I have never seen in my life of 28-30 years doing this. A franchise move into a crowded city, we got 30-star players, move into a city, lay a claim to it, and sort of become the driver of the sport.”
Speaking about the classic and iconic teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, Colin believes they do not do anything new and there is no other organization in the NFL that is trying to structure itself after them but every team is now following the Rams blueprint of not starting any main players in the pre-season, trying to draft well and implementing fresh ideas even ridiculous ones like changing coordinators every year.
“To be America’s team, don’t you have to win a lot when America’s watching in the playoffs? The Packers don’t, the Steelers don’t, and the Cowboys don’t. You know who does win for America and in America? The RAMS. I am today declaring the Rams as the new America’s team.” Colin makes a bold statement. He gives reasoning for his decision citing that “They win when America watches, they’re the most rated franchise, they’re the most duplicated franchise, they’re the most copied franchise, never in cap hell, they’ve changed the way you treat players, how you practice without pads, players want to be here, they come to rehab their image and leave, and when they leave, they say things like, ‘It’s the greatest two years of my life.’ Cowboys, Packers, Steelers? They’re never on TV in January. America’s team, The Los Angeles Rams.” Colin concludes.
The Rams most certainly do check every box to be called America’s team, they have been patient and smart in their approach, moreover, the team’s management does not have any one person with an ego doing all the work and taking credit for it. Coach McVay has also become the player’s coach as he understands them and creates an environment where they want to win and they want to give it their all.
