“Take an L on Baker Mayfield,” Colin Cowherd slams Cleveland Browns’ decision to pay QB’s half salary in a bid to earn a trade move
The Cleveland Browns are trying extremely hard to get their quarterback position sorted ahead of the 2022 NFL season. The Browns’ decision to controversially trade in Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans, meant Baker Mayfield’s career at the franchise had to end.
However, the Browns did not decide on his future then, but want to get rid of their veteran quarterback desperately now. According to recent reports, the franchise are willing to pay as much as half of Baker Mayfield’s salary to get him a trade move before the start of the season.
Colin Cowherd urged the Cleveland Browns to pay Baker Mayfield’s whole salary
The half portion of Baker Mayfield’s salary would mean that the Browns will have to pay about $9-10 million approximately just to take his name of their roster, along with the whopping sum they had paid for Deshaun Watson’s signing despite him having 24 lawsuits against his name.
Leading NFL analyst, Colin Cowherd shared his views on the current quarterback issue at the Cleveland Browns and ripped them apart as he called them one of the most poor organisations in the NFL, alongside a few other franchises.
In his rant, on his show, the Herd he urged the Cleveland Browns to take the hit for Baker Mayfield and pay his whole salary if they want to get rid of him and stay on with just one noisy quarterback, in the form of Deshaun Watson.
Colin Cowherd said, “You’d think the Cleveland Browns would have a plan if they want to get rid of Baker Mayfield, instead they went, ‘lets get this guy and worry about Baker later.’ Shocker. Cleveland miscalculated. But this is what Cleveland does, this is what bad organisations do.”
“Stop worrying, fretting about the degree of the L. Take an L and pay Baker’s salary,” Cowherd said. “You paid 100 percent guaranteed of Deshaun Watson’s with 24 civil lawsuits. You can’t take an L with Baker?”
