The New York Jets will finally have some stability in the quarterback position after acquiring the future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for some draft picks. After months and months of speculations and rumors, the Jets officially completed the trade for Rodgers last week just ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft.
The 39-year-old quarterback has 2 years left on his contract he signed back in the 2022 off-season. Rodgers also claimed that this is not a one-year thing in New York. Instead, he is looking to commit to the Jets to win a Super Bowl. However, Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd doesn’t think Rodgers has much time in the Big Apple.
During a recent episode of his show, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the long-time NFL analyst claims that the Jets franchise, media, and fans will quickly turn on the 10-time Pro Bowl QB if he doesn’t perform at a high level in his year one with the Jets.
“It’s really a one-year lease with the Jets, If he’s great the city will love him, if he’s not they’ll get rid of him,” said Cowherd. “They have nothing invested. It’s a one-year deal. It is not marriage; it’s dating. You can move off dating. It’s very complicated with marriage. That’s why moving off Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay was very, very complicated. The exit was bad.”
Nevertheless, the NY fans enjoying the off-season and are optimistic about Aaron Rodgers as their QB in the 2023 season. Many people even the worst-case scenario with Rodgers won’t be as bad as what they would be getting with their former second overall pick Zach Wilson.

Aaron Rodgers is embracing the New York culture

After finally becoming the New York Jets franchise signal-caller, the 4-time league MVP QB Aaron Rodgers has been embracing the sports culture in New York.
Rodgers recently attended the NHL round 1 playoff game between the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils where he got a loud cheers from the NY natives after he was introduced as the Jets quarterback in the Jumbotron.
A day later, he returned to Madison Square Garden to see the NBA round 2 playoff game between the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat. Unlike hockey, Rodgers didn’t get to witness a NY team victory in the basketball game.
Nevertheless, after soaking in some NY sports teams’ playoff atmosphere, Aaron Rodgers started training with the Jets players for the 2023 season. He will look to lead the Jets to their first playoff appearance since 2010.
