The Indianapolis Colts have started off the 2022/23 NFL season on a decent note and currently boasts a 3-2-1 record. However, this wasn’t the case coming into the season after their string of poor results in the preseason.

Colts owner Jim Irsay has though backed his team to come good and had complete faith in newly recruited quarterback Matt Ryan’s credentials despite seeing them tie and lose the initial matches of the season. That faith has definitely paid off for the veteran businessman, as they have had a major turnaround since then.

Jim Irsay hailed Matt Ryan as the best quarterback in the fourth quarter

Matt Ryan has been at the heart of the upheaval and has produced stunning performances as the first-choice quarterback for the Colts after his trade from the Atlanta Falcons before the start of the season. Jim Irsay has noticed them and offered his starting quarterback heavy praise, as he compared him with Colts legend Peyton Manning.

“I’ll tell you, he is a steely-eyed missile man,” Irsay said of Ryan as reported by NFL.com. “I’ve been around a lot of leaders and I’d put him right up there with Peyton Manning. A really outstanding, tough guy who doesn’t back down. Often the best in fourth quarter and you don’t ever want to count out Matt Ryan. He’s a winner, he’s a fighter and our team is taking on that temperament around him, which is exciting. More will be revealed, no question about it. But we’re encouraged, we really are.”

Manning spent 14 seasons at the Colts where he carved out a niche for himself and earned the tag of being one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the league. He also won the Super Bowl XLI thus becoming a Colts legend forever.

The Indianapolis Colts have claimed three victories since Week-2, and are on a 2-game-winning run as they head into their Week 7 encounter against the Tennessee Titans, against whom they suffered a 24-17 defeat earlier in the season.
