“TOUGH FOR US AS PLAYERS!”: Washington Commanders players are getting distracted by Dan Snyder’s scandal
Dan Snyder
Washington Commanders’ owner Dan Snyder is involved in his fair share of scandals and frauds. There has been a Congressional committee looking into financial irregularities with the Commanders’ management, along with a team trainer being busted by the DEA for peddling oxycodone to players. In addition, Dan Snyder is also accused of sexual molestation and of paying a woman $1.6 million in 2009 to drop all charges.
However, while all of these remain, the NFL also faces the risk of wanting to remove Dan Snyder from the ownership position of the Commanders. But Snyder contains sensitive information about commissioner Roger Goodell, Jerry Jones, and several other owners which prevents them from doing so.
Terry McLaurin and Co focused on playing football amidst Dan Snyder rumors
Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin admitted that it’s tough for players to focus on football with what is being said about Dan Snyder on social media. Additionally, head coach Ron Rivera is trying to distract his players away from this incident.
“I think that’s tough for us as players,” McLaurin said. “Obviously, with social media and everything that’s out there, you see what’s going on.”
“I try not to mention it,” Rivera said on Wednesday. “I talk about play on the field, what we’re trying to do — you know, try to relay the positive side of what’s happening for us on the field.”
Terry McLaurin added that none of them are dumb and are well aware of the situation and its consequences. However, he said that it’s all a matter of how much you let it affect you.
“It’s just a matter of how much you let that stuff seep in, how much you give credence to that,” McLaurin said. “None of us are dumb. We know what’s going on. But at the same time, how are you going to let it affect what’s going on on the field? I think as players, that’s what we can control.”
