The Washington Commanders are in a tough spot this season. They lost their Thursday night match-up against the Chicago Bears and are 2-3 to begin the season. It wasn’t a close game either as the Bears destroyed the Commanders 40-20 adding pressure on head coach Ron Rivera. They started the season well, winning their first two games of the season, but since then, they have lost their next three games.

According to BetOnline, Rivera is the favorite to lose his job this season. The sportsbook thinks that he might be the first head coach to be fired this season followed by Bears HC Matt Eberflus and Las Vegas Raiders HC Josh McDaniels. This is Rivera’s fourth season with the Commanders but he might not see the end of this season if things don’t change in Washington.

The Commanders, after winning their first two games against the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos, looked like a dark horse team to reach the playoffs. However, they were blown away by the Buffalo Bills in their next game. They almost came back to win their next game against the Philadelphia Eagles but fell just short. The Bears, who came into Thursday night’s game 0-4, battered the Commanders and poured in 40 points.

Rivera spent eight years as the Carolina Panthers head coach before signing with the Commanders in 2020. He led the Commanders to the playoffs in his first year as their head coach. The Commanders will have to win their next game against the Atlanta Falcons or else Rivera might not see the end of this season.

Ron Rivera takes the blame for the Commanders’ loss to the Bears

The Washington Commanders hosted the Chicago Bears on Thursday. The game was over by halftime as the Bears led 27-3 at the break. The Washington-based team showed some fight in the second half but couldn’t overcome the first-half barrage from the Bears. HC Ron Rivera took all the blame for his team’s loss after the game.

“It starts at the top. We’ve got to do better and that’s on me,” Rivera told the reporters. “I’m not going to sit up here and talk about those things until we get an opportunity to break the tape down, go through the tape, sit down and talk about the tape as a staff, and go from there.”

The Commanders will play the Atlanta Falcons in their next game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Rivera is under pressure after losing three games in a row as he is expected to be the first coach fired this season.
