The Dallas Cowboys recently released the star running back Ezekiel Elliott to save some cap space. The move certainly made a lot of Cowboys fans and players, including their QB Dak Prescott, unhappy, but it looks like the Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless has had enough of the six-foot running back.
During a recent episode of his podcast, The Skip Bayless Show, the long-time Cowboys fanatic brutally downplayed Ezekiel Elliott’s seven-year stint with the Dallas-based franchise and labeled him a one-year wonder.
“I no longer have an emotional attachment to Zeke,” said Bayless on his podcast. “Want to know the truth about Zeke’s Cowboys career? When you really stand back and look at it, the harder I look, the more it comes clear to me that Ezekiel Elliott was pretty much a one-year wonder. Seriously, a one-year wonder in his rookie year. Was by far his best year.”
Well, Bayless couldn’t have been more wrong about the 3-time Pro Bowl running back’s career since Ezekiel Elliott is far from a one-year wonder. While it’s true that Elliott’s rookie campaign was the best season in his career, the talented RB consistently put up good numbers in Dallas.
Elliott had four 1000-plus rushing yards season. He led the league in rushing yards in 2 seasons and led the league in rushing yards per game in 3 seasons with the Cowboys. Besides, He received 3 Pro Bowl nods and one first-team All-Pro recognition during his successful stint with self-proclaimed America’s team. So, calling him a one-year wonder is not an accurate way to describe his stellar career.
Skip Bayless believes Ezekiel Elliott should’ve won OROY award in 2016 over Dak Prescott

The Cowboys hit the jackpot in the 2016 NFL Draft by drafting the All-Pro running back Ezekiel Elliott and the future franchise QB Dak Prescott. Both players had a remarkable rookie season, and Prescott ended up winning the OROY award in the 2016 season, but Skip Bayless believes the RB that award should’ve gone to the running back.
“Dak was Rookie of the Year and Offensive Rookie of the Year, but trust me, if you look hard, Zeke deserved that award,” said Bayless in a recent tapping of his podcast. “Zeke was First Team All-Pro at running back, first team. Zeke led the league in rushing yards in touchdowns.”
Prescott was certainly the best rookie QB in that season, but there’s no doubt that Ezekiel Elliott was the best running back in that season. So, as Bayless mentioned, Elliott should’ve certainly won the OROY award over Prescott in the 2016 season.
