As many believe, Dak Prescott had a bad game that got the Dallas Cowboys eliminated from the playoffs, not a bad season.
Given that, there were a lot of speculations about the quarterback landing a big contract extension this year. But there are hardly any updates about any negotiation talks.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport recently reported that both the Cowboys and Prescott have a “mutual understanding” of his current contract situation, yet there are no offers from the franchise. And the quarterback is well aware of the fact that there’s a highly unlikely chance of any contract coming.
The Cowboys and QB Dak Prescott have a mutual understanding of his contract situation, sources say, with no offers from Dallas despite him being in a contract year. Owner Jerry Jones said, “We are where we are, locked and loaded for this year. No indication a deal is coming.Wrote Rapoport on X
Regardless of the contract uncertainties, owner Jerry Jones isn’t worried about finding a new quarterback in the free agency market or the upcoming draft, as he is confident in having Prescott for another season. In a conversation with the Forth Worth Star-Telegram, Jones stated that there are a handful of quarterbacks in the league who have yet to win a Super Bowl.
He includes his franchise quarterback Prescott in that list.
I think Dak is one of them. I'm firm there.Dak Prescott said
From Jones’ words, it appears the 30-year-old is their long-term plan, and there are hardly any indications of him moving elsewhere.
Fan reaction to Dak Prescott’s contract situation
Even though Prescott might not be bothered by his current contract situation, his fans are sure not to like it. Despite playing a season as a Super Bowl contender, the quarterback hasn’t received his share of appreciation.
Hope he throws for 5k, 40tds and leaves Jerry in the dust next year.

Some fans even mocked Rapoport’s post about reporting Prescott’s contract situation as ‘breaking news,’ when honestly it was not breaking news.
