Dak Prescott delivered another clutch performance—29/41 for 299 yards and 3 touchdowns—Thursday night to beat the Seattle Seahawks 41-35. This victory extended the Dallas Cowboys home win streak to 14 games.
Let the scoreline fool anyone. Seattle took the lead early on through a 73-yard pass from wide receiver D.K. Metcalf. They were also the ones in the lead for most of the game.
A late charge by Prescott helped the Cowboys crawl back into the game. The soon-to-be father was even using his legs to good effect. He carried the ball seven times to gain 23 yards, and on one occasion he was close to his third rushing TD of the season.
On 3rd and goal, the 30-year-old faked a toss to running back Tony Pollard, then took off to the left side of the field. Seattle’s cornerback Tariq Woolen had to go toe to toe to stop the Cowboys quarterback in his tracks; otherwise, he would reach the pylon.
Even though he failed to cross the endzone, Prescott was pumped and went to let Woolen hear it. They only stopped when the referee rushed into the step between the two testosterone-charged athletes.
Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
Another great outing for Dak Prescott
Dak Prescott did most of his work through the air, completing 70% of his passes with a passer rating of 115.8—the fourth-best this season. It showed up in the dying embers of the game as the Cowboys trailed the Seahawks by 8 points going into the fourth quarter.
A 12-yard pass to tight end Jake Ferguson more or less sealed the deal with just 4 1/2 minutes remaining on the clock. Then kicker Brandon Aubrey dispatched his 26th consecutive field goal to extend Dallas’ lead with just 1:40 minutes remaining until the final whistle.
The Seahawks managed to reach the halfway line. QB Geno Smith, after taking the snap, took a few steps backward and scanned downfield for his receivers. However, he was blindsided when the Cowboys pass rusher, Micah Parsons, charged and rammed into him. Smith had to get rid of the ball to avoid the sack, but being fourth down, the drive ended. Dallas chose to take a couple of knees to see out the time.
It was Dak Prescott’s ninth game in 2023 to throw more than 250 passing yards. Not only that, the two-time Pro Bowler has 20 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions in the last six games. Pro Football Focus graded him the Most Valuable Quarterback.
