The Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott addressed the continuous criticism that he faces on social media. In an interaction with the media on Tuesday, the Cowboys No.4 said he understands the psychology of a fan since he had a similar feeling when he was a fan of the Cowboys team. 

I get when fans are upset. I get it. I was once there. … I laugh at it because I understand it’s an angry fan.

Prescott further added:

But then there are other cases … those are the times you have to remember, he must’ve had his whole rent on that one. Once again, I give him grace and I understand and say, ‘Stop gambling'.

There is hardly any doubt that Prescott faces a lot of backlash from the fans despite him being statistically sound. However, one needs to introspect the mentality that the fans hold towards him and the team. The Cowboys have not won a Super Bowl, let alone the conference championship, for nearly three decades, and there is a growing impatience hitting the fans.

Prescott made his Cowboys debut in 2016. His brilliant rookie season, which he is yet to top off in terms of win record, triggered high hopes among fans. Prescott was successful in taking the Cowboys to the playoffs nearly four times in his previous seven seasons.

Nonetheless, the quarterback holds a poor record in the playoffs as he only managed two wins against four defeats. His failure in playoff games has been the talk of the town for some time. The analysts have spent thousands of words shredding the QB’s playoff performances.

In addition to this, Prescott has also failed multiple times on big occasions. His interceptions have remained a big problem, and the Cowboys had to bear a high cost for his habit of interceptions. He was intercepted 15 times last season, which had a high impact on the team.

Will this be Dak Prescott’s last with the Cowboys?

Ahead of the 2023-24 season, the Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones traded Trey Lance from the San Francisco 49ers without letting Prescott know about the prospective deal. Many were confused about whether Lance would be the starting QB after that.

Though the veteran billionaire declared that Prescott would be the starting QB and Lance would be a ‘developing’ one, a lot of analysts perceived it as a move to create more pressure on Prescott to win the Super Bowl. Some even discussed the possibility of firing Prescott if he failed to win the Championship. Nonetheless, Jones has not made any official indication of this.

This season, the Cowboys’ No. 4 is performing comparatively well. In ten games, the QB registered 19 touchdowns against six interceptions. Prescott made a promise before the season that he would not be intercepted more than ten times this season. It is to be seen whether he manages to do that.
