The Philadelphia Eagles and Jalen Hurts found a cheat code last season with their unique rugby-styled QB sneak, also known as “Tush Push.” The move was so powerful the league even considered banning it in the 2023 off-season but eventually decided not to. And now, the Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert has revealed how the opposing teams hated the QB sneak, which made the Philly-based football team unstoppable.

“Oh they hated it,” tight end Dallas Goedert said during his recent appearance on the Barstool Sports podcast Pardon My Take. “Every time. They’d call us p******. Call us ‘soft.’ Tell us ‘run a real play.’ And we’re like ‘Well don’t give us third-and-1 and fourth-and-1. I don’t know how you do stop it.”

The “Tush push” is different from a traditional quarterback sneak. In the rugby-like play, the Eagles QB Jalen Hurts will be lined up behind the big offensive linemen and will try to gain short yardage by diving forward. Still, unlike the traditional QB sneak, Hurts will have help from a couple of teammates in the backfield, who will push the quarterback from behind if he meets the initial resistance of the opposing defensive line.

That move made Eagles and Hurts virtually unstoppable in short-yardage situations and helped the Eagles to keep their drives alive in plenty of situations. With the help of the “Tush Push,” Hurts rushed for 13 touchdowns in addition to the 22 TDs that he threw for. The rugby scrum-like QB sneak helped Hurts become one of the lethal TD machines in the league.

The Eagles, led by their star QB Jalen Hurts, surprised many people last season by clinching the NFC East division title and NFC title and making it all the way to the Super Bowl.

One of the main reasons for their success was their young QB, Jalen Hurts, who enjoyed a breakout season in 2022. Hurts took a massive leap in his third year in the league and finished 2nd in the MVP voting.

As a result, Hurts signed a massive 5-year contract with the Philadelphia-based franchise worth up to $255 million. That huge contract made Hurts the highest-paid NFL player of all time for a brief period until Lamar Jackson signed his new contract with the Baltimore Ravens.

Now that the Eagles have locked in their franchise QB for the next five years, they would be looking to win the Super Bowl soon. In the 2023 off-season, the Eagles added some talents to their already stacked roster. They would be aiming to win the championship ring in the upcoming season.
