Buffalo Bills‘ young safety Damar Hamlin suffered a bone-chilling cardiac arrest earlier this year during a week 17 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent most of the offseason recovering from the horrific accident. After successfully completing his recovery, Hamlin stepped onto the field for the first time since last season against the Indianapolis Colts for the Bills’ preseason opener.
Hamlin was placed on the injured reserve list on January 6 while he continued his recovery. The game between the Bills and the Bengals was canceled due to Hamlin’s injury.
There was a lot of support for Hamlin throughout the league during his recovery period. Hamlin’s teammates were just as excited to see him back on the field. Stefon Diggs hugged his fellow Bill before the start of the game and was seemingly overjoyed to have him back.
Hamlin had a good outing against the Indianapolis Colts with 3 tackles, one of which came on a critical 4th and 1 stop that gave the ball back to the Bills on their own 40-yard line.
Hamlin, 25, has a lot of football left in his tank and he will be hoping to be a key contributor to the Bills’ Super Bowl push. He showed flashes of what he can do in their preseason opener and will be hoping to carry that in week 1 against the New York Jets on September 12.
