Earlier this year, the Buffalo Bills DB Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during a regular season matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2. Following his near-death experience that shocked the NFL world, Hamlin is using his second chance to do all the good that he can under the Chasing M’s Foundation.

Amidst this, Damar Hamlin recently spoke with Will Graves of the Associated Press on Friday and said that he wakes up “every day and think about how I can impact the world in a positive way, that’s what I care about if you take away everything else.”

“I just want to be able to take a nation of bystanders and turn them into lifesavers and give them a true superpower,” Hamlin said. “To be able to save a life is a true superpower. Instead of people standing by not knowing what to do, I’m just trying to create more people who do know what to do. This weekend specifically, people in my community.”

Under his foundation, the young defensive back will host a youth football camp on July 7 in Pittsburgh. Furthermore, a couple of days after his youth football camp, Hamlin will demonstrate CPR training for hundreds at the Pittsburgh Pirates’ homes field PNC Park.

Following the near-death experience, when he had to be administered CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) before getting transferred to the University of Cincinnati medical center, Hamlin began of “CPR Tour” last month in Buffalo. The next stop will be in Pittsburgh in the second week of this month.

Following the horrible incident that shook the football world back in January, the Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin has surprisingly been medically cleared to play football again.

Hamlin spent more than a week in hospitals getting treatment after he suffered Commotio Cordis following a heavy collision with the Bengals WR Tee Higgins. After a few months of rehab, Hamlin was cleared to play football again by the doctors back in April.

The six-foot DB even took part in some light training with the Bills in May and could end up playing in the upcoming season itself. But he hasn’t announced his decision officially about a specific time for his return.

Hamlin has said that he wants to play football again. According to statistics, it is rare for people to experience Commotio Cordis twice and survivors have fewer chances to experience other heart-related issues. Meaning, Hamlin’s heart is healthy again and he could end up playing football again very soon.
