It’s no secret that Patrick Mahomes steps up to the plate in the worst of circumstances. With a few seconds remaining in overtime, he contributed to the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory in the Super Bowl. Mahomes won his third Super Bowl Championship and may have started a “dynasty” with the Chiefs, which solidified his legacy.
Former NFL quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys and current ESPN analyst, Dan Orlovsky, had a bold claim about Mahomes. The analyst said:
He's the best player I've ever seen in my life.Dan Orlovsky said
He later talked about Mahomes on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show and called him a “savant.”
Orlovsky said:
The reason because Chiefs win is because of their defense. I mean that’s what I said before when Patrick came into the NFL he was a phenom. He is now gone to savant. Watching him win games because of his mind and his football IQ and his intellect, I don’t think it was learned last night but it was certainly stamped in that fashion.Dan Orlovsky said
It’s also impressive how the Chiefs, led by their quarterback and outstanding defensive line, rallied from a 10-point deficit to force overtime despite trailing by a large margin for the majority of the second quarter. The fact that Patrick Mahomes can win the game in the final legs is also not shocking.
Although the Chiefs narrowly won the game in the final seconds, it wasn’t a blowout victory, but ultimately, that’s what counts.
Patrick Mahomes talked about going for the three-peat after repeating as Super Bowl champions
The morning after the Kansas City Chiefs’ thrilling 25-22 overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs is already aiming for more Super Bowl glory.
The Chiefs became the first team to win back-to-back championships in nearly two decades since the New England Patriots in the 2003 and 2004 seasons. Now, they aim to become the first NFL team to ever “three-peat.”
Mahomes stated he will “do whatever I can to be back in this game next year” after taking home his third Super Bowl MVP award. He has already made it to the game four times in his first seven seasons in the league.
Mahomes said after the game:
It's legendary [a three-peat] - no one has ever done it. Only eight teams have done it back-to-back. We felt like we had the best opportunity we've ever had. All you can do is come back next year with the best mindset and try to do it again. I know how hard these guys work. I know how hard they get after it. I know how hard these coaches work.Patrick Mahomes said
The Chiefs have had a phenomenal run since Mahomes’ inclusion in the team. They have firmly established themselves as a dynasty and will look to keep this run going as long as their superstar QB is in his prime.
