Dan Quinn has officially become the newest Head Coach of the Washington Commanders, Adam Schefter of ESPN broke the news. The defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys was considering leaving the team in order to return to the position of head coach after the Wild Card Round loss of the team to the Green Bay Packers. With this, the mastermind behind the elite defense of America’s team is gone.

Dan Quinn’s departure is a huge blow to Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys. Even though America’s team blew it in the playoffs and the defense failed to stop Jordan Love and the Packers’ offense, Quinn does deserve a lot of credit for building the Cowboys’ defense up as the team did dominate during the regular season.

Dan Quinn will now be replacing Ron Rivera as the HC of the Washington Commanders. In addition to him, along with general manager Adam Peters will now hope to revive the fate of a team struggling to remain popular and relevant in the NFL. This will be his second stint as the Head Coach of a team, the last time he was in this role, he took the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl.

Dan Quinn has a herculean task ahead of him as the HC of the Commanders

Despite the fact that the Falcons blew the biggest lead in Super Bowl history to the New England Patriots, Quinn did a stellar job. He won 44 games and lost 42 in his coaching career with the team. His new role will not be easy as the Commanders are an organization other candidates have shied away from. The reason is that the team needs to go through a complete rebuild in order to be a legitimate contender in the league.

It is great to see Dan Quinn back in the position of a Head Coach. It is a bit shocking that he would decide to go join the biggest rivals of the Cowboys but in all fairness, he earned a promotion. Will he be the answer to the Commanders’ woes or will he fail to revive the organization, only time will tell!
