Darius Slay is one of the most influential players in the Eagles’ squad. The 32-year-old CB has just signed a 3-year extension with his team making him available till the year 2026.

The Eagles CB recently appeared on the Volume podcast and spoke about various issues including the inclusion of more Thursday Night Football games in the NFL.

All the NFL team owners held a meeting recently to determine the fate of adding more TNF games to the already packed schedule. Although this will be great for the viewers, the players will suffer brutally because of it.

Slay believes that recovery will be a big issue if another TNF game will be added. However, if the team owners have decided to add another TNF game then they should also add another bye-week for the recovery of the players. Currently, NFL players get just one bye week throughout the entire season.

“These dudes trying to add a second Thursday night game, what are we coming into. Can we get rid of the Thursday night? I thought we tried to get rid of first of that,” Darius Slay stated on the Big Slay podcast. “First of all, ya’ll want to add another Thursday night game, but y’all don’t want to add an extra bye week. I ain’ kicking it, I ain’t want ya’ll ain’t even let the NFL and the players decide on this. Come on.”

Thursday Night Football games have been a fairly recent addition to the NFL and it’s clearly draining all the players. Darius Slay believes that TNF games are pretty difficult to prepare for.

Slay also suggested the NFL to instead inculcate more Monday Night Football games and called it way better than TNF games. The former Lions CB’s outrage is pretty understandable as injuries are a growing concern in the league currently.

“I kind of understand like add another Monday night game, Monday night is cool, Thursday come on man, it’s already hard. Thumbs down to that. We don’t need to be doing that. Come on now NFL. Please owners come on, you bring a Thursday night game you better add another bye week,” Darius Slay added.

If the league has decided to add another TNF game starting next season, then they will also have to adjust another bye-week in their tightly packed schedule. Player fitness and health should be one of the most important aspects when deciding fixtures.
