DaRon Bland has made history! On Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys cornerback became the first player in NFL history to register 5 pick-sixes in a single season. He achieved that impressive feat during the Cowboys’ week 12 game against their NFC East division rivals Washington Commanders in their Thanksgiving Day matchup.

During the Commanders-Cowboys’ week 12 matchup, Bland picked off Sam Howell‘s pass attempt and returned it to the house for a 63-yard defensive touchdown. That was Bland’s 5th pick-six in the ongoing NFL season, which is the most in a single season in NFL’s history. Previously, Eric Allen (1993), Ken Houston (1971), and Jim Kearney (1972) held the record with 4 pick-sixes in a season.

After having a historic night on Thursday, the Cowboys cornerback was given the game ball for his achievement. In a short video shared by the Cowboys on their X profile, the talented cornerback Bland could be seen walking into the locker room as his teammates hyped him up and celebrated his record.

Furthermore, in the video, head coach Mike McCarthy screamed “NFL History” before handing the game ball to the 24-year-old cornerback. After receiving the game ball, DaRon Bland ended the celebrations with a short speech.

Y'all know I'm a man of few words. So I'm appreciate y'all, thank y'all. . . It [was a] great win.
Bland said in his locker room speech.

The short video of Bland and the Cowboys’ celebration went viral on social media and registered nearly 100k views within hours. Bland has been a ballhawk this entire season and with 6 games left in the season, Bland might be looking to extend his record by adding a few more pick-sixes to his tally.

Dak Prescott ‘proud of’ DaRon Bland’s impressive run

DaRon Bland made an NFL record on Thursday and registered himself as one of the ballhawks the league has ever seen. Many people are impressed by Bland’s remarkable achievement and the Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is one among them.

Nonetheless, Prescott and the Dallas-based franchise had a feast against the Commanders on Thanksgiving night. The Cowboys managed to secure a 45-10 victory and improved to a solid 8-3 record in the ongoing season. Next, they are scheduled to face the Seattle Seahawks next Thursday in their week 13 matchup.
