Davante Adams made the difficult decision at the start of the 22/23 NFL season when he chose to join the Las Vegas Raiders and moved on from his partnership with Aaron Rodgers in the Green Bay Packers.
Adams was persuaded by his good friend QB Derek Carr and wanted to score numerous touchdowns with the QB in Vegas. However, it didn’t turn out that way as the Raiders bombed massively this season and held a 6-9 losing record. What’s worse is that Carr is currently benched by the HC and backup QB Jarrett Stidham has taken his place.
Adams had played college football with Carr at Fresno State, and the duo developed a great friendship there. Although Adams and Carr were formidable in Fresno State, they couldn’t replicate the same form with the Raiders.
With Carr out of the team, Adams was clearly shaken and shared a cryptic response when asked about his views on the situation. “Obviously, I don’t think anybody was excited about it in here,” Adams stated in a press conference. “Him being one of my really good friends and the reason why I came here in the first place.”
“I wouldn’t be here right now if he wasn’t here. … Obviously, I support my guy. We’ve got to finish the season up the best way we can possibly with all things considered at this point.”
It looks like both Derek Carr and Davante Adams will move on to greater things after this season ends and will hand in a trade request. Adams is also being urged by the fans of his former team to make a comeback.
Davante Adams set to make a return to Green Bay?
Adams and Aaron Rodgers were a menacing duo during their time together in Green Bay. Rodgers used to throw aesthetically pleasing passes that were caught beautifully by Adams. Their partnership was scary.
Therefore, when Adams decided to move to the Raiders, many Packers fans were heartbroken and worried as the WR was an instrumental part of their success. However, now it looks like Adams could make a return to his old team if Derek Carr is traded to another team.
With Adams and Rodgers together, maybe they can win something big in the legendary QB’s probable last season in the NFL. Although the rumors of a return are strong, there is no concrete evidence to support them.
The Packers are currently making the final push toward the playoffs with just 2 games left. On the other hand, the Raiders can consider their season to be done and focus on the next one.
