The 2023 NFL Draft was a massive success. It brought in high viewership on television and had plenty of live audiences too. All 32 teams used their resources to strengthen their roster by adding elite talents from a pool of the best players in college football. However, one NFL agent, David Canter, might have ruined the 2023 draft.

David Canter, a well-renowned NFL agent, is under serious investigation for allegedly offering gifts to multiple teams if they drafted players represented by his agency. According to multiple reports, Canter pursued teams to draft his players by “offering the use of vacation properties belonging to him and his wife.”

Canter’s attorney and his agency have denied any wrongdoings on their part and are hopeful that this whole thing might blow out soon. But at least, one anonymous NFL general manager has confirmed that he indeed received an offer from Canter. Furthermore, the anonymous GM also claims that at least two other executives have received similar offers.

Amidst the serious bribery accusations, NFL agent David Canter’s attorney has released a statement to ESPN denying any wrongdoings and vowing his client’s full cooperation with the NFLPA’s investigation.

“We are aware that the NFLPA is looking into communications between my client and various management personnel of certain NFL teams,” Canter’s attorney Adam Kenner said in the statement to ESPN. “Mr. Canter did not engage in any wrongdoing and he is fully cooperating with the NFLPA.”

Despite his denial, the anonymous NFL general manager’s confession has raised a lot of doubts around the league. Besides, the LA Rams selecting Desjuan Johnson, who’s represented by Canter’s agency as the dead last pick in the draft, has particularly caught the attention of many people.

Canter is a high-profile agent, who recently helped his player Xavien Howard to land a new 5-year contract with the Miami Dolphins worth $50.6 million in new money. That deal gave Howard the most guaranteed money for a cornerback in the league’s history.

Nevertheless, the NFLPA and the league will be investigating David Canter, his players, and the franchises regarding the serious bribery accusations. If he and the teams are found guilty of bribery, the punishment will be implemented depending on the severity of the offense.
