The Denver Broncos QB secured a massive trade last season but has failed to perform since then. However, the same can’t be said about his Seattle Seahawks days, where he was one of the best QBs in the league.

Wilson was a well-respected QB at the time and even used to share his personal stories and how they helped him become the man he is today. Several years ago, Wilson wrote out a letter raising awareness about violence and how it is prominent in the NFL.

Following his retirement from the New York Yankees, Derek Jeter started a forum where all professional athletes could share their personal struggles and how they helped them get better. Wilson apparently wrote the first article of the ‘Player’s Tribune’ as a senior editor and spoke about the issue of domestic violence that is still prevalent in the NFL.

Wilson started by recounting his own journey as a bully and how religion saved him from going down a dark path. He also spoke about his bullish behavior in school and how finding faith restored him.

“Truthfully, I used to beat peple up a lot. I was a bully gorwing up in elementary and middle school, I threw kids against the wall and rubbed their heads in the dirt,” Russell Wilson stated. “I had a lot of anger that I didn’t know what to do with. Thankfully, I was saved by my faith when I was 14 years old, and was able to start living for others instead of myself.”

The former Seahawks QB believes that the issue won’t disappear tomorrow, and there needs to be a conversation about it. It’s not just about the NFL but about the world in general.

“I can’t fix the world. I can’t fix the NFL. The only thing I can change is the one in the mirror,” Russell Wilson stated. “I’m not a perfect person, I’m just a recovering bully. For those of us in the NFL, there’s no excuse for violence off the field.”

Russell Wilson is surely an insightful personality whose intellectual and humanitarian side often gets ignored over his on-field actions and bizarre decisions taken off the field.
