Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns are currently preparing for their week 4 matchup against their AFC North division rivals Baltimore Ravens, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday. It is a crucial game for the Browns since every division victory weighs more than non-division victories in the division standings. Ahead of their crucial game, the Browns’ starting tight end David Njoku suffered an unfortunate injury and is now questionable for Sunday’s game.
On Saturday, the Browns added David Njoku as questionable and revealed that he suffered burns to his face and arms in an unfortunate incident. The burn injuries happened while Njoku was trying to light a fire pit at his home according to ESPN. The Browns didn’t report the severity of the injuries, but Njoku and his agent have given an update on the situation.
“The flesh is weak. See u tomorrow #DawgPound,” wrote Njoku on his social media account. Furthermore, the tight end’s agent Malki Kawa also took to social media to provide an update. “Thank you everyone for reaching out, but David Njoku is ok, thank God,” wrote Kawa.
Njoku, a former first-round pick, has been with the Cleveland-based football team for the last seven years. The 27-year-old has caught 10 passes for 92 yards in the ongoing season and has made some big plays for the Browns through the first three weeks. Moreover, Njoku has also looked solid in the blocking game for the Browns.
Earlier this week, the Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski noted how big Njoku has been for his team through the first three weeks. Stefanski called Njoku a “complete” tight end and said he is one of the main reasons why the Browns are having success earlier in the season. Nonetheless, the Browns have elevated tight end Zaire Mitchell-Paden from the practice squad to cover for Njoku if he’s unable to play on Sunday against the Ravens.

David Njoku’s injury complicates things for the Browns
Losing the star tight end David Njoku would be a massive loss for the Browns in their game against the Ravens. It further complicates things for the Browns, who could also be playing without their expensive quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Watson is also listed as questionable for the Browns’ week 4 game and was limited in the practice with a shoulder injury. If Watson is unable to play, the Browns’ 2023 fifth-round pick Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who has been impressive so far in practice sessions and the preseason games, will be starting for the Cleveland-based franchise on Sunday.
The Browns HC Kevin Stefanski said he’s hopeful that Watson would be able to fully recover before the game. Still, they have added QB P.J. Walker to the active roster from the practice squad as insurance for Watson.
