The process of demoting Sean Desai started much earlier. After the blowout loss against the Dallas Cowboys, Sean Desai was discharged from his defensive playcalling duties. Nonetheless, the process began much earlier. The DC was losing ground after the Eagles went by-weak with a winning record of 8-1.

According to a report by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sean Desai’s personal relationship with head coach Nick Srinani suffered a setback. The two had a vast difference in terms of running the team.

Srinani was not happy with the way the defense was performing. He asked for a collaborative effort and suggested the DC work closely with others. He then suggested the DC be more open about other people’s opinions.

The main reason behind the sacking is, however, different. A tweet by Jeff McLane claimed that Desai lost control over the team’s third-down planning. Sirianni gained more control over the team and the defensive duties. The HC started picking the team all by himself. With this drastic development, Sean Desai had to leave his duties.

The Eagles had a winning record when Desai was discharged from his duties. However, the team had a very poor defensive record. They were ranked 25th in the red zone and 26th in the third down.

Sirianni had a problem with these stats, and as a result, Sean Desai was demoted. It was Matt Patricia who came into the scenario and became the defensive coordinator of the team.

The DC post of the Eagles had been subjected to a lot of controversy. The selection of Desai was a forced one, as the team could not afford to wait for Vic Fangio. It is to be seen whether the team develops with the new DC.

The Eagles are looking for the No.1 conference seed

With the win against the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles broke their three-game losing streak. They were going through a rough patch; however, that came to an end with the 33-25 victory over the Giants.

The Eagles are now looking to achieve the No. 1 seed spot. Their next face-off will be against the Arizona Cardinals, who seem nowhere close to being a formidable opponent.  The Eagles are hence looking for an easy win.
