“Let’s see how tough he is,” DeAndre Hopkins throws Boxing ring challenge to Charvarius Ward amidst ‘steroid boy’ controversy

DeAndre Hopkins & Charvarius Ward

DeAndre Hopkins and Charvarius Ward got into a lethal battle of wits in the Cardinals-49ers game. The Cardinals have had a bleak start to the season and they couldn’t defend themselves from the relentless offense of the 49ers, eventually losing to them 38-10.

Though the most talking point of the game was when Cardinals WR Hopkins and 49ers CB Ward got into a heated confrontation during the game.

Ward spoke about the confrontation and stated that ‘steroid boy’ Hopkins grabbed him by the neck. “D Hop, he thinks he’s a tough guy. He falsely believes that he is still among the league’s top receivers. All game long, he tried to talk loudly and aggressively,” Ward said to KNBR.

Unsurprisingly, these comments didn’t go down well with Hopkins, who decided to hit back at Ward after being called a steroid boy.

“I am not the kind of guy who goes to social media for this kind of stuff but obviously, it did sound very personal,” Hopkins stated. “I would love to get in the boxing ring and see how tough he is in real life,”

Hopkins was very calm and composed when speaking about Ward, as he later stated that he understood anyone can play for any team in the NFL and it’s useless to pick up baseless fights in the league.

DeAndre Hopkins couldn’t save the Cardinals from the wrath of the 49ers

DeAndre Hopkins and the Arizona Cardinals aren’t having the NFL season they would have hoped for. The Arizona-based team is currently 3rd in their division with a record of 4-7. The 49ers are in the same division and inching closer to a playoff spot after every game.

Hopkins caught nine catches for 91 yards on 12 targets. This wasn’t a commendable performance from the 30-year-old, as he had delivered much better performances throughout his career.

DeAndre Hopkins was also suspended for 6 games in May 2022 for allegedly using performance-enhancing drugs. This was the first time the Cardinals WR was suspended for anything.

The Cardinals’ season is almost done as the playoffs look like a distant reality to them. Though they are not alone as defending champions, the Rams are having a terrible season and they face the Cardinals in their next game.
