The Colorado Buffaloes quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, is currently one of the most popular football players in the country. He is expected to enter the 2025 NFL Draft and is considered one of the top prospects in that class. Amidst this, Shedeur’s father and Colorado’s head coach, Deion Sanders opens up about the QB’s future in the league.

During his recent appearance on The Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Deion claimed that he won’t allow his son to play for certain teams even if he gets drafted by them. Coach Prime said that his son would pull an Eli Manning if he gets selected by certain teams.

Now, all this is subjective because I know what I want, kind of want them to go. And let’s not forget Shilo [Sanders]. But I know where I want them to go. So there’s certain cities that it ain’t going to happen. Going to be a Manning — I’m sorry, it’s going to be an Eli.

Back during the 2004 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers drafted Eli Manning with the first overall pick. However, Manning bizarrely didn’t want to play for them. As a result, he was traded away by the Chargers in just 45 minutes. During the 2004 Draft Day, the Chargers traded Manning to the New York Giants in exchange for QB Phillip Rivers.

Deion Sanders doesn’t want his son Shedeur to play in cold conditions

Deion claims he and his son will do the same thing if Shedeur gets drafted by ‘certain teams’. Coach Prime did not specify any team names, but he mentioned that he doesn’t want his sons to play in cold weather. Deion also pointed out that in Colorado, the college football season would be over before it gets cold.

Shedeur Sanders channeled his inner Tom Brady to win the game in overtime against the Colorado State Rams. It was quite the victory for the Colorado Buffaloes, as they increased their win count to 3 and sent a warning to the rest of their college football rivals. Sanders was undeniably the hero and savior of the Buffaloes. His fourth-quarter heroics saved blushes for his dad and coach, Deion Sanders. The 21-year-old recovered 11 points to force the game into overtime. The highlight of the play was the 98-yard drive led by Sanders, which finished off with a 46-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Horn Jr. to tie the game at 28-28. The Buffaloes only took 90 seconds and seven plays to get back into the game. It was astonishing considering how they had struggled throughout the second and third quarters. A lot of teams would have given up at this point, but the Buffs are led by Prime Time himself. He tweaked the plays slightly, which allowed his team to get forward quickly. Once the game went into overtime, it felt like the crowd got behind the home team. It worked, as the players were riled up to go and win it. Shedeur Sanders once again proved why he is quickly becoming a Heisman candidate. He found Michael Harrison scoring touchdowns twice in either half to win the game 43-35. After the match, Sanders spoke to the media, who asked how he managed to achieve the comeback. He replied that he had to go into his 'brady mode," which is undeniably a shoutout to legendary quarterback Tom Brady. "If Tom Brady can do it, I can do it!" he said. Shedeur Sanders had the opportunity to learn from Tom Brady. While Deion Sanders never played against Tom Brady in his career, he always had respect for the seven-time Super Bowl winner. During his analyst days, he would often say that he would never bet against the former Patriots player because he always finds a way to win. Perhaps this is the same lesson Shedeur Sanders learned when he received some private tips from the future Hall of Famer himself. A video surfaced a while back where Shedeur was busy with his throwing sessions. As the camera pans to the right, Brady could be seen praising the former Jackson State man. “If Tom Brady can do it, I can do it!” Shedeur Sanders reveals how he thought about Tom Brady before orchestrating a 98-yard drive, says he texts the legendary QB after every game Sanders' first wasn't great, as he only managed 64 yards and recorded his first interception of the year. But he made amends in the later half with 284 yards for three touchdowns. Next, he and the Buffaloes will travel to Oregon as they gear up to face the 13th-placed Ducks.

Like, I don’t want my kid [Shedeur] going nowhere cold next year. He grew up in Texas. He played in Jackson, played in Colorado. Season’s over before it gets cold in Colorado. I’m just thinking way ahead. I don’t want that for him.

Deion rates Shedeur highly and believes he will be a top pick even in the 2024 NFL Draft. But, Shedeur will return to college to try and lead the Buffaloes to the playoffs.

Deion and Shedeur are coming off a disappointing season in Colorado as they finished the season with a record of 4 wins and 8 losses. Now, they will look to win more games in their new conference.
