With the NFL 2023-24 season coming to an end, the New Orleans Saints have started to work on restructuring contracts. The restructuring serves as an attempt to meet the NFL’s salary cap for the year 2024. They got a good response from their quarterback, Derek Carr.
The Saints QB is willing to help the team by restructuring his contract. In an interview with Zach Ewing, the QB said that he would do all the help that the team needs from his end to get off the books. This is what Carr said:
If it helps the team and I saw the plan and I knew where it was gonna go, man, let’s figure it out… Not even a question. I came here to win, so whatever we gotta do, I’m all in.Derek Carr on contract restructuring

Carr signed a $150 million deal with the New Orleans Saints this March. The quarterback had a decent season with the Saints, with 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also covered 3,614 yards of passing with more than 94 passer rating. With all these, the QB proved himself to be a handy one. He can be a star in the coming seasons.
The Saints are working very hard to get off the books. They have started working to cut $11 million out of $87 million from the contract of the cornerback Marshon Lattimore. The team has to meet the deadlines before March 13, and they are actively working on it.
Contract restructuring is not an issue for Derek Carr
Derek Carr is not too concerned regarding the contract restructuring process. He instead put more focus on his performance on the gridiron. The QB had the experience before, as well.
In the exclusive interview with Ewing, Carr revealed that the Saints were not the first team to approach him regarding the option to restructure the contract. It happened with him earlier as well. During his stint at the Las Vegas Raiders, he was also offered to restructure the contract.

This is what Carr said:
There's ways to do it where you can still get your money, and there's ways to do it to help the cap and the situation to help the team. I came here to win.
With eight wins and eight losses, the New Orleans Saints are presently in second position in the NFC South. They still have the chance to top their division. How much of a post-season run can Saints embark on remains a question for their fanbase.
