Deshaun Watson is halfway through the 11-game suspension that was levied on him along with a $5 million fine by the NFL after more than two dozen women accused the Quarterback of sexual misconduct. The Quarterback has settled 23 of the cases that were filed against him, with one still outstanding and another being dropped after a judge’s ruling as per ESPN.
The allegation stemmed from a 2020 incident when Deshaun Watson was part of the Houston Texans. Now a part of the Cleveland Browns, he is on a $230 million fully guaranteed 5-year contract and is scheduled to return from suspension in Week 13 when the Browns will travel to face the Houston Texans on December 4.
Just last week Watson was allowed to enter the Browns facilities since August 30, as he was banned as part of the suspension.
Deshaun Watson faces 26th lawsuit for sexual misconduct as another massage therapist files case
This new case was filed in Harris County, Texas, and states that Watson reached out to the plaintiff, a licensed massage therapist, on Instagram through a direct message and solicited a massage at a Houstonian hotel room in Texas in December 2020.
During the massage, Watson, as per the lawsuit, continually pressured the plaintiff into massaging his privates before removing his towel and “offered to let her ‘get on top.‘” He coerced her into oral sex and paid her $300 for her services, with her normal charge being $115 for an hour of massage.
As per the lawsuit, the plaintiff “suffered from severe depression and anxiety,” since the alleged incident. According to the woman’s lawyer- “Like so many others, my client spent nearly two years struggling to cope with the shame and trauma from all that he has stolen from her and the daily pain that has become her reality…..the strength and bravery of these other women gave my client the courage to stand up and speak out.”
Watson will now have more legal troubles ahead of him but as per the settlement reached by the NFL and NFLPA, he won’t face any further repercussions from the league and this new lawsuit would not impact the terms of Watson’s settlement nor subject him to any further league discipline per NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero.
