“I came to Cleveland to win the Super Bowl,” Deshaun Watson claims ULTIMATE goal as winning a ring with the Browns, renounces the ‘noise’

During the 2022 NFL off-season, Deshaun Watson signed a 5 year $230,000,000 fully guaranteed deal with the Cleveland Browns, but he hasn’t yet displayed the qualities of a quarterback deserving of the most guaranteed salary in NFL history. Since his return to game action on December 4, he has played more like a quarterback who hasn’t played in 2 seasons.

The Cleveland Browns QB returned to action after serving an 11-game suspension due to sexual assault allegations. Since his return, he has thrown for 703 yards and 2 touchdowns while completing just 57.7% of his passes. Watson has also thrown more interceptions than touchdowns in his first four games as a starter for the Cleveland Browns.

Amidst all his struggles, Deshaun Watson has said that he signed with the Cleveland Browns with the ultimate goal to win the Super Bowl. “It’s not about right now. I came here for the long run,” said Watson while addressing the media on Dec 29. He further elaborated that as long as the Browns win, he doesn’t care whether he’s throwing the ball a lot or not. “I came to Cleveland to win a Super Bowl, by any means. If that’s throwing the ball 5 times or throwing the ball 40 times and scoring 5 touchdowns or scoring 0 touchdowns, as long as we win, that’s all that really matters. That’s all I really care about,” Watson said in the Press Conference.

The 6-9 Cleveland Browns have been eliminated from the playoff contention after their week 16 loss against the New Orleans Saints. They will try to surround Watson with more talent to help him achieve their ultimate goal of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in the future.

Cleveland Browns made a huge change at the quarterback position after deciding to move on from the former No.1 overall pick Baker Mayfield in the 2022 NFL off-season. The Browns traded for the Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson in hopes of winning the Super Bowl.

The Browns paid a hefty price for Watson as they gave up three first-round draft picks and three more late-round draft picks to the Texans to get their franchise QB. The Cleveland-based team also spent a lot of money signing Watson as they gave the quarterback a 5 year, $230M fully guaranteed contract. This is the most guaranteed salary for a player in NFL history.

The Browns believe Watson will help them to achieve their goal of winning the Super Bowl in the near future, but they have bet their franchise’s future on it. If this doesn’t work out for the team, it will take years for them to rebuild from the scratch with lesser draft picks.
