“No one cares about this rap**t” Deshaun Watson gets hammered on social media as he returns to practice with the Browns despite his active suspension over sexual assault
Deshaun Watson
Renowned quarterback Deshaun Watson is eligible to practice with the Browns this week onwards despite his active suspension over charges of multiple sexual assaults levied on him. Watson was suspended for 11 games under the Personal Conduct Policy after numerous allegations of sexual misconduct with masseuses.
While no criminal charges were filed as Deshaun Watson settled civil lawsuits filed by a number of his accusers, the NFL decided to punish him with an 11-game ban that many believe was too soft. Around 30 massage therapists alleged Watson of sexual misconduct during appointments. The 27-year-old has settled 23 civil suits and has two pending, which includes one filed two weeks ago.
Amidst all of this, Watson was reportedly seen working with the team during the offseason and the preseason so that he can be prepared as soon as his suspension is completed but this will be the first time that he will be with the team on the field so closely after the ban. He is expected to play for the Brown on December 4 against his former team in Houston, the Texans.
Browns’ GM Andrew Berry has confirmed this and has also expressed his excitement about having Watson back on their team. “He’s been focused on working on himself. He’s stayed in great shape. He’s been a part of the meetings. He’s done everything and more that’s been asked of him. We’ll be excited to have him when he can continue to ramp up football activities and get back on the practice field,” Berry said.
Twitter slams NFL’s decision to allow Deshaun Watson to practice despite his active suspension
NFL Twitter wasn’t particularly happy with the news of Watson being ready to stage a comeback. The fans argued that he deserves a more severe punishment than the NFL had given him.
Deshaun Watson has begun practice with the Browns and is actively sharing about it on social media. While many are unhappy with his return, the Browns would hope that he could get their derailed season back on track.
