DeAndre Hopkins is currently a free agent after being released by the Arizona Cardinals. The prolific WR is one of the best in the league, and there are many teams interested in acquiring him.

However, Hopkins is rumored to get an unfamiliar homecoming with the Cleveland Browns as he is speculated to reunite with QB Deshaun Watson. Hopkins and Watson shared a great partnership during their Houston Texans days and developed a deep bond since then.

Recently, the 31-year-old WR was excited at the prospect of moving to Cleveland. Surprisingly, Watson reciprocated, and he himself showed excitement about Hopkins.

Watson recently attended the Browns Foundations golf outing, and there he was asked about the rumors of Hopkins joining the Cleveland Browns. The 27-year-old QB was immediately floored and gave a positive reaction.

“Me and D-Hop, we just naturally talk. We’ve been talking since the Houston days, and whenever he was in Arizona, we were always talking,” Deshaun Watson stated. “He’s always been a brother of mine since I was coming out of high school. Our connection, our relationship has always been great. And I know there’s a lot of things swirling around in the media about him possibly coming to Cleveland. For me, my answer to that is, of course we’d love to have him.”

Deshaun Watson and DeAndre Hopkins’ connection helped the Texans bag back-to-back division titles in the year 2018 and 2019. Maybe, they can pull off something similar in Cleveland as well.

DeAndre Hopkins is a talented WR, and any team in the NFL would love to get him on their side. However, the former Cardinals WR has shown an inclination toward joining the Browns.

Deshaun Watson understands that; however, the QB can’t do anything about it. Watson stated that he will speak to the Browns’ GM and he will make it happen.

“He knows that. We have a lot of connections, but it’s kind of out my range of things of trying to coordinate things. All I can do is make a call and see what happens and let AB [G.M. Andrew Berry] do the rest,” Deshaun Watson stated.

Watson believes Hopkins is the best WR in the league and he will be pretty instrumental for the team if the Browns sign him. However, the Cleveland-based team will have to pay a lot as DeAndre Hopkins amasses one of the most massive salaries in the league for a WR.
