“NFL didn’t want Deshaun Watson near Tom Brady” Colin Cowherd’s SHOCKING claim regarding Watson’s increased suspension
Colin Cowherd on the Deshaun Watson settlement
The Deshaun Watson saga seems to have reached an end after the NFL and NFLPA reached a settlement per which Watson will be suspended for 11 games and a $5 million fine which is the largest fine levied on a player in NFL history. Watson will now return to action in week 12 against his former team the Houston Texans.
Watson was earlier suspended for 6 games with no fine by retd. Judge Sue L. Robinson in a ruling that the NFL had earlier appealed before teaching this settlement. The world was up in arms when the ruling came out and Watson who’s now part of the Cleveland Browns followed a massive trade from the Texans. Many around the NFL believed that severe punishment was needed. Colin Cowherd was one of them and he reacted to this new suspension with shocking news.
Colin Cowherd- “Tom Brady doesn’t want Deshaun Watson anywhere near his brand”
When the news broke about the agreement between NFL and the NFLPA Cowherd said-“ Roger Goodell wanted the season but in negotiations you don’t get everything you want. Deshaun Watson’s camp was very happy with 6……..They were very favorable did not argue it very satisfied, why. Because they knew it was light.”
He continued- “The NFL, Goodell and the NFLPA have been negotiating and they have reached 11 games and a $5 million fine. Now again that’s a big fine. That’s the largest fine I have ever heard for a player.”
“This 11 game games, he’ll come back, his first game back would be week 13 against Houston.” He also added. “So the NFL remember there was a lot of talk that they anted 12 games my guess is they didn’t want Deshaun on the field with Tom Brady, who is the biggest brand in the NFL. They didn’t want Deshaun Watson anywhere near a Tom Brady game. No where near Tom Brady. Tom Brady doesn’t want Deshaun Watson anywhere near his brand. So the NFL is I think today is satisfied with ‘ Yeah, Go to Houston, there’s your first game.”
He also analyzed the Browns’ chances this season and said that they may finish 4th in their division which per Colin Cowherd– “I got no problem with it. That’s the price you pay for rewarding really bad behavior and it’s not just that Cleveland gave him a contract, not just that. They give him the only fully guaranteed contract that I remember in NFL history.”
