The Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green couldn’t help his NBA teammates Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson on the golf course during the 2023 edition of The Match. However, he made sure to defend his teammates after their opponents Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce trash talked Warriors’ infamous loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals back in 2016. Green made sure to remind Mahomes loss against Joe Burrow in the 2021-22 AFC Championship game.
During the eighth edition of the charity golfing event The Match, the Kansas City Chiefs‘ dynamic duo Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce took a 3-0 lead in the beginning. Once the Warriors’ splash brothers Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson took one hole to cut the lead down to 3-1, Mahomes couldn’t help himself but remind the Warriors duo of their infamous loss against the Cavaliers after going up 3-1 in the NBA Finals.
Draymond Green didn’t let that one slide. “Y’all over here talking about 3–1, like Joey Burrow ain’t send your a– home a year ago,” Green said while chuckling on the side referencing to the time Joe Burrow and the Bengals defeated the Chiefs despite trailing 21-10 at half-time. Besides, Burrow also has a dominating record of 3-1 against the Chiefs led by Mahomes.
Apart from all the trash talks and friendly banters, the Chiefs duo dominated Curry and Thompson on the Golf course. The defending Super Bowl Champions ended up winning the eighth edition of The Match. With this result, Mahomes gets his first victory in the charity event. Curry (0-2) is still searching for his first victory in the celebrity golf event.

Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes rivalry keeps growing
The Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and the Bengals QB Joe Burrow share one of the most intense rivalries in the league currently. Both are arguably two of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Last two years, the Chiefs and the Bengals have squared off in the AFC Championship game and have each won once. And now, even during the off-season, the rivalry between two talented signal-callers keeps growing and growing.
Just a few days ago, the Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase stirred the pot by disrespecting Mahomes while crowning his teammate Burrow as the best player in the league.
Furthermore, the Bengals offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. also added fuel to the fire by seemingly taking a shot at his former teammate Mahomes while praising Burrow as a good pocket passer.
And now, the Warriors forward Draymond Green has mocked the Chiefs QB by referencing Burrow’s dominant head-to-head stats against Mahomes. Nonetheless, all these events have amped up the excitement for the Chiefs-Bengals matchup in the upcoming season.
