The Philadelphia Eagles‘ chief security officer Dom DiSandro received a lifetime ban on appearing on the sidelines when his team is playing. The development took place after the chief security was indulged in a fight with the San Francisco 49ers‘ linebacker Dre Greenlaw in the much-heated game between the 49ers and the Eagles.
The moment took place with 9:27 minutes remaining on the clock. Greenlaw tackled the Eagles WR DeVonta Smith and grabbed him from the back while he was on the verge of completing a run. He later slammed him on the ground. The player received a penalty for his unsportsmanlike behavior.
However, things did not end with this only. The 49ers players surrounded him and started expressing their fury over the move. DiSandro appeared in the scene then. The security guard had a face-to-face with the LB when the latter extended his arm to the guard’s face. His arm touched the face.
As a result, Greenlaw was ejected from the field and was fined more than $10,000. But he was not the only one to receive the marching orders. Dom DiSandro was also ejected and received an early marching order. He pulled Greenlaw and shouted at him for the unsportsmanlike behavior he showed on the gridiron.
After receiving the suspension on the sidelines, DiSandro met the NFL’s commissioner Roger Goodell. However, his meeting did not bear any fruit as the suspension prevails for the rest of the season. He can continue with his coaching work but can not appear on the sideline.
Dom DiSandro Will watch the game against the Giants from the stands
As an immediate effect of the suspension, DiSandro will watch the game from the stands. He will not be present on the sideline. The Eagles had already made a statement in this regard. ‘
The team added:
This is an ongoing conversation with the NFL, and we are going to respect the restriction that is currently in place. Although Dom will not be on the sidelines this Sunday, he will continue to fulfill his role with the team in all other capacities.Statement from the Eagles
It is to be seen whether his absence will have any impact on the team’s performance against the Giants.
