On Sunday, the Detroit Lions, led by their star quarterback Jared Goff, went against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship game for the right to play in the Super Bowl. During Detroit’s tough road playoff game, the famed hip-hop artist and Lions fanatic Marshall Mathers, better known as Eminem, flipped off the 49ers fans from the VIP suite.
The 51-year-old global music star was present at Levi’s Stadium to support his home team Lions in a tough matchup against the San Francisco-based football team. Eminem wore a Lions T-shirt and a hat to show his support for the NFC North champions.
Furthermore, in a picture that went viral on social media, Eminem could be seen flipping off a group of 49ers fans from the VIP suite. The real Slim Shady has been an ardent supporter of the Lions since he grew up in Detroit during his early days. Eminem must’ve been pumped to see the Lions dominating the Niners through the first half of the game.
However, he wouldn’t have liked how the game ended. Despite taking a solid 24-7 lead into halftime, the Lions blew the game and suffered a defeat against the Niners in a thrilling NFC game. The Detroit quarterback Jared Goff had a good game as he completed 25 of his 41 attempts for 273 yards and 1 touchdown, but he couldn’t lead his team to a victory against the NFC West champions.
As for the Niners, they have finally clinched the NFC title after two back-to-back losses in the previous conference games. Their QB Brock Purdy had a shaky game, but their running back Christian McCaffrey once again bailed them out and proved to be their best player.
Eminem sends a message for the Lions following their loss
Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions are out of Super Bowl contention following their rough loss against the 49ers on Sunday. Despite their loss, their super fan Eminem is still proud of their remarkable 2023 campaign.
So proud of the @Lions Thanks 4 an amazing season!!!! We'll b back!!!Eminem wrote on X
The Lions had a great season as they finished the regular season with a 12-5 record. Furthermore, they also clinched the first-ever NFC North title in the franchise’s history.
In addition, the Lions also ended their playoff victory drought. However, they couldn’t pull off a victory in the NFC title game. So, the Detroit-based franchise remains as one of the few teams that never had a trip to the Super Bowl. They would look to change that in the 2024 season.
