Those who’ve seen the Dallas Cowboys in its prime days can guess how painful it is for the former player to see the franchise’s persistent struggles over the last three decades. First, there was Michael Irvin, who broke down in frustration after the Cowboys got eliminated in the very first game of the playoffs, despite the promising season. And now, it is Emmitt Smith, who is tired of everything happening with the Cowboys.

The legendary Cowboys running back expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the Cowboys’ performance which continues to decline year by year. During his era, the franchise was at its peak as he helped him secure three out of their five Super Bowl trophies until he retired in 2004 with 18,355 rushing yards.

He demanded:

How do you allow this to happen?

Emmitt Smith raises concerns over Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy

While talking about his frustration with the Cowboys, the three-time Super Bowl champion also expressed surprise at Jerry Jones’ decision to retain head coach Mike McCarthy for another season, when the team’s performance is anything but improving.

Smith believes the Cowboys’ performance in 2023 under McCarthy did not align with the reputation that the name ‘Dallas Cowboys’ carries. He also stated the franchise has lacked respect within its organization for years. The Hall of Famer asserted:

Nobody wants to fight no more... They wanna (say), 'Oh, we are the Cowboys. Tell me how good I am.' Without doing anything.
