Damar Hamlin, the defensive back for the Buffalo Bills, suffered a horrific injury in their game against the Cincinnati Bengals in week 17 of the NFL season. Hamlin is now getting treatment at the UC Medical Center.

The injury happened during the first quarter of the Bills-Bengals game when the Bengals WR Tee Higgins was trying to gain some extra yards after receiving a 13-yard pass from his quarterback Joe Burrow. The Bills DB Hamlin managed to tackle Higgins but received a hard hit in the process. After the routine tackle, the Bills’ DB collapsed on the field.

He was administered CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) by Denny Kellington and the medical staff and was then transferred to a local Cincinnati hospital. This injury shook the sports world and many players and fans have prayed for the young man’s recovery. People also started to donate money to Hamlin’s GoFundMe campaign, which Hamlin had started previously for his charity when he was healthy. Hamlin has since made a “substantial improvement” in his recovery.

When the injury first happened, ESPN analyst Ryan Clark was one of the first persons, who urged people to see the humane side of the injury when he delivered a passionate speech on SportsCenter right after Hamlin’s injury. And Now, Clark has joined many players and fans in rocking Damar Hamlin’s jersey as a way of support to the 24-year-old safety.

Ryan Clark, a former NFL defensive back himself, showed Hamlin some love by rocking his Buffalo Bills jersey on live television. He wore Hamlin’s jersey while talking about his recovery in the ESPN show Get Up on Monday Morning.

Clark said he received the jersey from Fanatics and it was important for him to show his support for Hamlin. “I think it was important for me,” Clark said on ESPN. “What this kid has now for an entire country. Not just people who love sports and bringing us together for a good reason instead of something divisive.”

Ryan Clark also revealed that he talked to the Jets DB Jordan Whitehead, who was ecstatic about Hamlin’s showing positive signs of improvement. “This isn’t a Buffalo Bills thing and I think that has been shown by the fans of the Cincinnati Bengals and all that they’ve done to be a part of supporting Damar,” said Clark in a recent episode of Get Up

Ryan Clark played 13 seasons as a defensive back in the NFL for three different teams. He has tallied 16 interceptions and 4 sacks in his career and has also been to the Pro Bowl one time. He won a Super Bowl ring in 2009 with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
