Former NFL MVP and three-time Pro-Bowler, Cam Newton played 11 seasons in the league. He was drafted first overall in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He spent his first nine seasons with the Panthers and led them to the Super Bowl in his lone MVP season. The Panthers lost that Super Bowl against the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos.
Newton’s last season in the NFL came in 2021 and since then, he has been a free agent. The former New England Patriots‘ quarterback is known for his big personality as he doesn’t shy away from having a controversial opinion. He recently appeared on the ‘Pardon My Take’ podcast and had a rather controversial opinion on Manning.

On the show, Newton talked about how players like Manning did a ‘disservice’ to the league by achieving great passing stats and in the process limiting other types of quarterbacks. Newton said on the podcast:
People who think they know football or sports, Peyton Manning did this league a disservice by having like, you know, 350 yards passing, you know four touchdowns, the Brett Favres of the world.
Newton was a dynamic player who was a dual-threat quarterback. However, during his time in the league, QBs focused more on passing the ball rather than running it. That meant that Newton was out of the NFL by 2021. The signal-caller racked up 32,382 passing yards and 194 touchdowns along with 123 interceptions in his 11 seasons in the league.
Cam Newton reveals that the Panthers are looking to hire Bill Belichick as their head coach
The Carolina Panthers recently fired their head coach, Frank Reich, after a terrible start to the season. They have the worst record in the league so with just one in 11 games. Former Panthers’ QB Cam Newton recently revealed that the organization’s owner, David Tepper is looking at New England Patriots’ HC Bill Belichick as a potential replacement for Reich.

Newton said during a discussion with Barstool Sports‘ Dan Katz:
Knowing what I do know, he's hoping that he can land Bill Belichick. That, right there, would be a win-win-win-win for David Tepper.
Belichick himself is under pressure due to a poor season with the Patriots.
The Panthers lost their last game against the Tennessee Titans last week. That saw the end of Reich’s tenure in Carolina. They will now play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their next game on Sunday.
