The Philadelphia Eagles have the best record in the NFL, having had 10 wins and just 1 loss. The team’s upcoming matchup against the San Francisco 49ers will be an exciting one for fans to see as two of the best teams in the NFL will go face-to-face against one another.

The 49ers have won eight games and lost just three so far this season. While it may seem that Philly is the better team heading into the matchup, Richard Sherman of FOX’s Undisputed on FS1 begs to differ.

The analyst believes the San Francisco 49ers ought to be favored over the Eagles heading into this week’s matchup. He said:

The Philadelphia Eagles have struggled a bit more defensively. They're 20th in points, they're 29th in passing yards given up a game, they're 19th in total yards given up a game, the San Francisco 49ers are a top 5 offensive team in most categories.

The analyst then credited Brock Purdy, the quarterback for the 49ers, and had this to say about him:

Brock Purdy is number 1 in just about every elite stat, QBR, yards-per-attempt, deep throw, completion percentage, etc etc. that's the reason he's playing like a top 5 quarterback.

The team’s defense is the second-best in the league, with an average of 82 yards allowed per game in rushing and 33 sacks. FOX Sports ranked the 49ers’ defense as the 5th best in the NFL with an average of 295.3 yards allowed.

Richard Sherman believes the 49ers defense will be the reason the team beats Philadelphia

Sherman pointed out the immediate impact that Chase Young has had on this team’s defense.

This defense has gotten better because they got Chase Young now, another guy that can rush the passer, the three games that he's come into the fold, Nicholas John Bosa, has had 5 sacks, the turnovers has increased, the points per game has decreased.

The analyst summed up by crediting the entire 49ers team.

Their defense is playing lights out, Brock Purdy is playing lights out, Christian McCaffrey has 27 TDs in 22 games as a San Francisco 49er, I expect him to have a TD this game. They're a better team...this is what it looks like when a team is great.

The San Francisco 49ers have played elite football all season. They did have a disappointing three-game stretch where they struggled a bit, but they managed it perfectly as they came back strong from it.

This week will be a true litmus test for the team. Will they be able to hold up against the likes of the Philadelphia Eagles? a team that has been steamrolling every team in the NFL, including the Kansas City Chiefs?
