The Las Vegas Raiders have finally decided to let go of their head coach, Josh McDaniels, and GM David Ziegler. After a torrid start to the season, calls were made by Raiders fans to dismiss McDaniels as the head coach of the team.

The organization has finally obliged, as the former New England Patriots offensive coordinator was relieved of his duties, along with the team’s general manager.

Mark Davis, the Raiders’ owner, hired both McDaniels and Ziegler together in January 2022. They finished their reign with the Raiders with a record of 9-16. McDaniels led the team to a 6-11 record in his first season with the team. They were 3-5 through eight weeks this season. This isn’t the first time McDaniels has been fired midway through the second season. He faced a similar fate in 2009-10 with the Denver Broncos.

Davis released an official statement at 10:00 p.m. PT on Tuesday night.

After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave. I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best.
Davis said in the statement.

Both McDaniels and Ziegler were part of the Patriots team before joining the Raiders in 2022.

The Raiders lost their week 8 game against the Detroit Lions on Monday. They will play the New York Giants in their next game on November 5. McDaniels signed a six-year contract with the Raiders in 2022, and the team is obligated to pay the remaining four years of his contract. The team is planning to make LB coach Antonio Pierce the interim head coach.
