Orlovsky didn’t just send out a tweet praying for Damar Hamlin like the majority. He paused his commentary on live air and actually prayed for the unfortunate Hamlin. He bowed his head, closed his eyes, and said a prayer out loud. Orlovsky’s moment was so pure and raw that it made most of the viewers cry and their respect for him shot up to the sky. It takes a lot for a man to wear his heart and faith on his sleeves and express his thoughts, but Orlovsky did it and put it all in the hands of the man above.

Orlovsky said: “Maybe this is not the right thing to do but it’s just on my heart that I wanna pray for Damar Hamlin right now. I’m gonna do it out loud, I’m gonna close my eyes, I’m gonna bow my head and I’m just gonna pray for him. God, we come to you in these moments that we don’t understand, that are hard, because we believe that you’re God and that coming to you and praying to you has impact.”

“We’re sad, we’re angry, we want answers, but some things are unanswerable. We just want to pray, truly come to you and pray for strength for Damar, for healing for Damar, for comfort for Damar, to be with his family, to give him peace. If we didn’t believe that prayer didn’t work we wouldn’t ask this of you God. I believe in prayer. We believe in prayer. We lift up Damar Hamlin’s name in your name. Amen.”

Fans on Twitter were overwhelmed by Dan Orlovsky’s selfless moment and praised him. One user wrote: “Never thought I’d see that on Disney-owned ESPN. Dan O., you are my hero.” Another said: “So much respect for Dan, based off of ESPN’s history I’m absolutely shocked they even allowed Dan to pray.”
