WATCH – “Get rid of him,” Fans side with Mike Purcell for putting Russell Wilson in his place after Broncos’ shock defeat against the Panthers
Mike Purcell and Russell Wilson
The Denver Broncos faced yet another disappointing result on Sunday as they slipped against the Carolina Panthers and were taken down 23-10. This adds to a string of poor performances as they currently stand 3-8 for the NFL season.
With such disappointing results, it’s understandable that players will be reacting in an angry manner and taking out their frustration on teammates. After the Carolina Panthers extended their lead to a three-score game in the fourth quarter, Denver Broncos defensive tackle Mike Purcell could be seen having a fierce exchange of words with quarterback Russell Wilson.
Since his trade from the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson hasn’t been able to impact the Denver Broncos in a way the fans would’ve liked. And now it seems it’s the same animosity amongst players as well who want Wilson to lift up his socks.

Mike Purcell says frustration led to him bursting out at Russell Wilson
Fans were quick to see this and backed Mike Purcell for letting Russell Wilson know that the offense was letting the team down. With the Broncos’ offense scoring just 10 points, Mike Purcell had every right to shout at Russell Wilson according to NFL Twitter.
However, after the game, both Russell Wilson and Mike Purcell reassured fans that it was not a fight but just a way of getting each other going. Wilson stated that after the Panthers kicked the field goal, Purcell urged him to get going and that was his way of doing so.
“Frustration,” Purcell said. “We want a spark on something. We’re all in this together, period. That’s the quarterback of our offense, they were about to take the field, obviously we let up a touchdown so we weren’t doing our job, but gotta get a spark somewhere.”
“Mike and I are on the same page,” Wilson said. “He came off after they kicked the field goal and he was pissed off and just said, ‘We’ve got to effing go.’ I agree. So, me and him are on the same page. There’s no animosity there at all.”
