Former Patriot, Scott Spina Jr sentenced to spend years in prison for Tom Brady’s CRAZY ring fraud
Man sentenced for fake Tom Brady family rings.
Scott Spina Jr a man hailing from New Jersey was sentenced to three years in prison for falsely claiming to be a former “Patriot” and ordering 3 Super Bowl rings claiming them to be gifts for Tom Brady’s family and selling them to an auction house. He pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud, three counts of wire fraud, and one count of aggravated identity theft for posing as a former Patriots player per ABC News.
It all started in 2017 when a former Patriot known only as T.J. sold Spina Jr. his Super Bowl ring after leaving the team for which Spina Jr paid him with at least one bad check. As per the U.S. Attorney’s office after obtaining the ring Spina Jr also received information that the former player was allowed to buy Super Bowl Rings for family and friends that were slightly smaller than the player’s ring.

Rings for Tom Brady’s kids or nephews
Spina Jr sold the ring he obtained from the former player to a championship ring broker in Orange County for $63,000 and also called the company that made the rings and claimed to be the former player and ordered three family-and-friend rings with “Brady” engraved on them, claiming them to be gifts for Tom Brady’s kids per the prosecutors. The rings were never authorized by Tom Brady.
After obtaining the rings he again contacted the same broker he old the former player’s ring and agreed to sell these new rings for $81,500 adding that the rings were given by Tom Brady to his nephews. The broker was sceptical and later withdrew from the deal as he “started to believe that Brady did not have nephews,” per the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Then in November 2017 at the same time that the broker withdrew Spina Jr sold the rings to an auction house for $100,000. Later at an auction, one of the rings was sold for more than $337,000 per the authorities.
For all this Spina Jr. was sentenced by a judge to 3 years in prison and also ordered to pay $63,000 in restitution to the former Patriots player who had sold him the original ring.
