The time is ticking for the San Francisco 49ers. The team is yet to make any big contractual offers to its star players after coming inches away from winning the Super Bowl. While the team has to consider dealing with the contracts of multiple stars such as Nick Bosa, Christian McCaffrey, and Deebo Samuel in the coming years, the team needs to sign wideout Brandon Aiyuk and eventually QB Brock Purdy to long-term extensions this offseason.

Brock Purdy is due for a massive payday. The quarterback has proved himself beyond doubt to be worthy of being called the franchise quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers. He has gained the support of fans and analysts who agree it is high time the team pays him and some believe he is on track to become one of the highest-paid QBs in the league.

Willie Colon, former Super Bowl champion believes Purdy should consider holding out if the team fails to get a deal done at the earliest. He said he wouldn’t have shown up to training camp without a deal.

I wouldn't show up to training camp without a deal. The bottom line is, the man's done everything you've asked him to do. He's come back, he's led teams, he went to the NFC Championship, he's battled back from injuries, he's had bad games and has battled back and you talk about a Super Bowl appearance that could have gone either way.

Brock Purdy stands to make just $90,000 per start as opposed to the league average of $2 million per start made by other QBs

Willie Colon, like many, believes Brock Purdy is on the verge of becoming one of the highest-paid players next year in the NFL. The quarterback has done all he needs to in order to show that he can be consistent, come back effectively even if he has had a bad game in recent history, and most importantly, lead the team to a Super Bowl.

Brock Purdy’s current contract pays him less than a million dollars per year. While that makes him the most grossly underpaid starting player in the NFL, it is also insufficient to live well in the State of California. The 49ers have made it clear that they intend to offer Purdy a long-term deal but at the same time, the team remains silent on the status of negotiations between the QB and the management.

Brock Purdy remains unconcerned about the pace at which the talks are moving along. He is reassured that no matter what, he has a big payday coming, and rightfully so. It is expected that Purdy will be on his rookie contract for another season and in the next offseason, depending on his performance, he may get the ‘well-deserved’ big-money contract.

The quarterback recently tied the knot with his college sweetheart Jenna Brandt and the couple went on their honeymoon to Turks & Caicos. For now, Purdy is keeping his focus on football and waiting for the 49ers to make an offer.
