This time of the season is known to be the most thrilling and stressful for the teams. These few weeks would decide whether or not their hard work and consistency throughout the year would work if they made it to the playoffs. But it looks like the Jacksonville Jaguars have made their slim playoff chances even slimmer.
After failing for the fourth consecutive time, the Jaguars suffered a brutal 32-12 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that made their playoff picture seem blurred. And despite the best of efforts, quarterback Trevor Lawrence hasn’t been able to lead his team to victory in the last four weeks.
The saddened news is that just a few weeks ago, the quarterback had severed an ankle injury, and now, in the game against the Bucs, he sustained a shoulder injury and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. And as his team dropped to an 8-7 season standing, his frustration had reached its limit.
It’s frustrating. I mean yeah, it’s just every aspect of the game today was frustrating. Yeah, that’s frustrating. It’s frustrating that we had so many mistakes all the way around. It’s frustrating that I had a couple of turnovers again. At some point, we’ve got to take control of it and go play the way that I know we’re capable of playing, and we’re not doing that.Lawrence expressed his frustration while talking to the media,
He believes the Jaguars need to take control and win the remaking two games to clinch a playoff spot, as no one is coming to save them.
It’s like we’re all waiting around, waiting on something to happen for us to get out of this funk and it’s not happening. No one is coming to save us. We’ve got to go take control and take these games, win them and put ourselves in position. So, yeah, I’ve got a lot of thoughts. It’s frustrating. It’s really embarrassing and frustrating. He said
How did Trevor Lawrence sustained the shoulder injury?
In the third quarter, on a fourth-and-1 play, quarterback Lawrence got hurt when he stretched and dove for the first down on the sideline. He was tackled by Bucs linebacker Yaya Diaby, and he fell on his right shoulder and slid into the bench area of the opponent.
Despite being hurt, Lawrence decided to stay put in the game to finish out the drive. He completed 4 out of 5 passes, including one 18-yard touchdown pass to receiver Calvin Ridley. Before leaving, the quarterback logged 18 out of 30 passes for 213 yards, along with a touchdown and two interceptions.
However, he had to leave the field eventually as he was unable to lift his shoulder. He was replaced by C.J. Beathard, who completed 11 of 15 passes for 94 yards along with a touchdown. Lawrence was later ruled out for the game as well as the season.
