On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers led by their franchise QB Kenny Pickett went against the Atlanta Falcons in their final preseason game. The Steelers 1st string players got some playing minutes, and they made full use of that. First, the Steelers star receiver Dionte Johnson fired up the crowd with a 35-yard catch and then it was the second year receiver George Pickens‘ turn.

During the starting minutes of the first quarter, the Steelers were marching down the field in an attempt to score a touchdown. They were facing a 2nd and 10 around the Falcons’ 40-yard line and Pickett dotted a perfect deep throw to his receiver George Pickens, who made a ridiculous catch to complete the 35-yard play.

Pickett’s throw was good, but Pickens’ play to complete the catch was better. The former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver just plucked the ball from the air while falling backward to complete the catch. This isn’t the first time he has done that either. Pickens has repeatedly proven his athletic ability in black and yellow colors.

In the end, the Steelers won their 3rd and final preseason game by blowing out the Falcons 24-0. Kenny Pickett, who had a promising rookie season, completed all 4 of his pass attempts for 86 yards. George Pickens just had that one 35-yard reception in the game before he was taken out. The Falcons struggled to score, but they were mostly playing their 3rd string QB.

Another promising sign for the Steelers fans was their star outside linebacker T.J. Watt, who suffered from injuries last season saw the field and registered 1 sack and 1 tackle in the limited playing time he got.

The Steelers will start their 2023 campaign with a tough game

The Pittsburgh-based football team is hoping to make a deep postseason run in the upcoming NFL season under the leadership of their young signal-caller Kenny Pickett.

However, the Steelers will open their 2023 campaign with a tough home game as they are scheduled to face the San Francisco 49ers in their opening game on September 9. But the 49ers’ rookie sensation Brock Purdy is doubtful to play in the opening game. So, that could play out in favor of the Steelers.

The Steelers have built a good roster over the years. In last year’s draft, they selected Kenny Pickett and George Pickens. Both of them have been impressive in the NFL so far. If Pickett can stay healthy for the entire 2023 season, the Steelers have a shot at making a deep playoff run.
